SEO Marketing

Positronic Design also claims to do search engine optimization for existing sites. In most cases this cannot be done effectively.  Applying SEO to a web site that has already been built is like trying to take a car that has already been built and make it into an airplane. You might be able to make a car more aerodynamic, but it still won’t be able to get off the ground. In the case of a web site you might be able to reuse some of the materials from an existing site, but building a search engine optimized web site will generally require a ground up rebuild to achieve top search engine rankings.

Since David Captuo does not actually do the work to develop web sites himself, the only money he makes building search engine optimized web sites is by marking up his student contractor’s labor rates about 100%. Where David Caputo makes more of his money is by marking up his print services 400% to 600%. This is why, although Positronic Design categorizes itself as, “The SEO Company” its top keyword ranking is for “full service graphic design.” This service of Positronic Design allows David Caputo to do only a small about of typesetting but make large profits on re-orders of printed material.

Although Positronic Design states that “We stake our reputation as an SEO company on the results of our work.” it is interesting to note that there is no link to read their client testimonials on the impact of SEO for their businesses. This lack of a link can be seen as intentional, or as an oversight in Positronic’s site design. The first case can be seen as misleading, the second case can be taken, with the other typos on the site, as tragic for a company that offers its typesetting services and David Caputo who personally defines himself as a professional proofreader. Further, based on the consistent low quality of work produced by David Caputo’s company, there isn’t much of a reputation to stake.

Another characteristic that the Search Engines use to rank a web sites is page load speed. From personal experience and talking with other of his customers I know that he David Caputo has seriously oversold the bandwidth of his web server, making all web pages load too slowly for commercial use. This is made worse by the highly graphical nature of the sites built by Positronic Design. This is another case where David Caputo’s approach to web design causes slow load times, customer frustration, and a high bounce rate, all resulting in reduced site ranking. If the sites were less graphically oriented they would be faster loading and more effective.

When my project could not be completed David Caputo told me that it was because of the programming complications caused by my insistence in having my site hosted on my own server space.   His programmers could not just link directly to the library of code shared between all of the sites Positronic Design built, a bad programming practice at best. Additionally, I think that David Caputo was upset because he could not collect his exorbitant hosting fees for my site.

One particularly telling feature about the inflexibility of David Caputo’s web site development structure and the poor quality of their own server is that Positronic Design’s blogs, A1Optimization.com and SEOCompanyMassachusetts.com are not hosted on their own servers, and that the updated content from these blogs is not listed on PositronicDesign.com even though this dynamic content would improve their site ranking. It is ironic that Positronic Design writes a blog to establish their SEO expertise but does not follow the best SEO practices. This is another example of Positronic Design being at least ten years out of date regarding search engine optimization.
